Happy Hauling: April/May ’14

Hello one and all, I hope you are all having an awesome week.  In today’s post I thought i’d share with this haul that I’ve been doing over the past couple months, as I’m someone who tends to just buy bits and pieces and then before I know it a small mound suddenly appears on my make-up table. So, here goes:

First up is this stick foundation from the ”Fit Me” (AUD $15.95) range by Maybelline in shade 120. It gives a matte coverage, while the anti-shine powder core it gives a powder like finish.

004

Second is Lady Danger (AUD $36) Matte Lipstick by MAC. As I have quite a few shiny finish red lipsticks, I thought I’d take a leap of faith (cause I’m so brave right? :D) and try out a matte finish version.

006

Third is another MAC lipstick in ”Sunny Seoul”(AUD $36). I never really go for coral-toned lipsticks but for some reason, I’ve been in a ”think outside the box” kind of phase, so I went ahead and got it, and Seoul is one of my favourite cities in the world so clearly I’m not biased here ^^.

005

Next up is a liquid eyeliner felt pen from Loreal. As I’ve never tried drugstore eyeliners, I thought I’d start with a Loreal one, and so far it’s been performing pretty well. plus it is smiliar to the Lancome Art Liner eyeliner pen. Also it was 40% at Priceline a couple weeks ago, (whoo hoo for sales) so I bought it.

009

This next product is a blush from Topshop. Yes I bought make-up from there. First time for everything. The colour is in “Dream Phone” (AUD $15) which is similar in colour to MAC’s ”Fever”/”Breezy” blush.

Next is a new product I’m about to try out, which is this ”Nuance Airy” hair treatment cream mask ($23 AUD) by Japanese brand Essential, which is designed to help with damaged hair and give it a bit more volume. I’ve seen BubzBeauty give this product a positive review on one of her vlogs on YouTube some time ago, as well as seeing it featured in quite a few Japanese fashion magazines (I just get them to look at the pictures) so I thought I would give it a try. Plus the fruity scent is quite lovely as well. I will be doing a review on this in the future, once I start using this on a regular basis.

Lastly is the Face It Baked Shimmer Blusher ($32 AUD) from the Face Shop. If you are after dupe to the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick blush, this quite a good copy of it. It’s not as pigmented and strong as the Bobbi Brown one, however it still gives a hint of shimmer and colour to the cheeks. Great for the warm summer months.

And that’s pretty much it. I hope this post was informative in some way. Till next time, see you in my next post ^^

Fashion Haul: Ms.Skinny Jean

Welcome, one and all to my skinny jean haul. I’m sure most of you have at least 2 (or more) pairs of this closet staple in your wardrobes that you love to wear because you can pair them with pretty much anything and everything, and they’ll always look fabulous. Honestly whoever came up with skinny jeans is a legendary hero.

Anyways, a couple of weeks ago one of my favourite pairs officially died….T___T so after some time mourning, I reluctantly dragged myself practically skipped with joy to my nearest denim store and started going through the racks, and ended up with three pairs ^^. Clearly I’m not obsessed here >.>.

First off the rack is the Riders by Lee Skinny Jean ($89.95 AUS) in this oh-so-nice navy colour. I chose this one because 1) it’s mid-rise which means if I’m out and have been eating a bit too much…this will hide the evidence, and second, it will also keep my waist warm for the rest of the Winter.

Second is the Second Skin Super Skinny Jean from Just Jeans. They are more on the low rise end, but they’re still pretty comfortable for me to wear. Plus they’re lightweight so I’ll be wearing these quite a bit in the early months of spring.

The third pair is kind of a new…venture for me. I have always wanted to wear shiny vinyl leggings but I can never seem to find an occasion to wear them. So, I decided to go for the next best thing. Wax coated skinny jeans, which is pretty much the result of vinyl leggings meet skinny jeans, and I must say, I’m really enjoying this pair that I got from Portmans (Brooklyn Skinny Jeans: $79.95).

Portmansjeans002

And that’s pretty much it. I know these jeans don’t look terribly exciting, however, I personally like to go for black and dark blue wash jeans as they tend to go with pretty much anything and everything in my closet due to their versatility. If you have any other suggestions or personal favourites, feel free to leave them in the comments below. See you all in the next post.

Fashion Haul: Shirts, Shorts and Blouses

Hello everyone, I know it’s been a while since I posted anything (busy schedule >.<) but I hope you are all doing well, and having a fabulous week wherever in the world you are.

Welcome to my (mini) fashion haul post. As you can probably tell this is going to be a mini post as it is still Winter over here in the land down under, so  being the genius I am, I’ve decided to hold out on (which I think I’m doing ok so far??) buying any new (as in a lot of) clothes until Spring and only buying items that need replacing in my closet.

Item One: Sportsgirl Cotton Jumper (beige/grey/black) ($69.95)

sportsgirljumper

Item Two: Portmans Blouse (purple) ($49.95)

Item Three: Temt Shorts (beige) ($29.95)

Item Four: Temt Collared Blouse (blue) ($19.95)

And that’s my haul. I hope you enjoyed this post and if it inspired you to go out for a bit of shopping…I’m more than happy to help ^^. I’ll see you all in the next post.

Skincare: Spring/Summer Routine

Hello one and all,

Hope the day is going well for you (or night depending where you are in the world ^^).

This will just be a quick post on the skincare products I’ve been using over the spring/summer months, which help keep my “”suddenly-gets-massively-oily-in-summer” skin at bay.

First is the Gingko Facial Wash, which is a real favourite of mine. It’s incredibly effective for me when my skin starts to either oil up or if my skin starts showing any potential pimples that might pop up on my skin. Plus it also effectively removes any left over make-up that wasn’t removed by a make-up remover wipe. Super effective cleanser.

Second is the Laniege Toner. This product comes in either a green or blue bottle. The green bottle is designed for dry skin, while the blue bottle (which I have….I know captian obvious moment much =.=) is designed for combination/oily skin. I started using this at the start of the spring months, though I gave it a real test during the hottest part of summer (in Australia…40 degrees Celsius would be heaven for anyone clearly =.=) and it managed to keep quite a bit of my oil levels at bay. IThe scent is also quite pleasant, and is definitely not harsh on the skin at all. have actually almost finished using this product, which is perfect timing as it is now autumn here so I will be changing to my autumn/winter skin routine in the next few weeks.

Third is my handy dandy Dove moisturiser. This has been really good to me over the warm months, not just with keeping my skin happy (espcially after I finish a workout at the gym) and with the uva/uvb protection, it helps provide a small amount of protection against the harsh sun. Great to use along with any regular sunscreen you have lying around.

And that is pretty much my skincare routine in a nutshell. I hope you all enjoyed this super sweet short post, and hopefully maybe this will help with those who are about to enter into the spring/summer months, and tend to oil up a bit (like me).

See you all in my next post ^^

Haul: Birthday Presents

Hi everyone ^^ hope you are all feeling fabulous and great today ^^

I meant to post this haul a few days ago, however, thanks to my busy schedule, I never got a chance to post it. Thankfully, now I can finally post this up and share it with you all ^^. Just last week, I celebrated my birthday, and I got quite a few items that I actually needed (as well as lusting over for quite some time >.>) so I thought I’d share a few things I received.

The shoes I got from my (super-duper awesome) mother, the kimmidoll necklace and butterfly earring I recived from my best friend Luci (of Luci’sLog fame), the silver earrings and pearl hairclip I received from another friend of mine, and the rose gold earrings and the blue earrings with the bows I bought for myself ^^.

Hope you enjoyed this random (and short) post.

Happy Hauling: March Edition

Hello one and all ^^ hope you’re all having a great easter weekend…and (hopefully) not gorging on too much chocolate ^^ hehehe

Anyhows, this post is devoted to all the beauty related items I’ve got (or possibly accumulated??) over the past few days during this month. Most of the items I purchased are mostly all things that I’ve been meaning to try (or have just been released) for quite some time…so here goes ^^

Firstly, I decided to take a nice leisurely stroll towards my nearest MAC store to get the recently released MAC Mineralize Moisture Foundation in NC20 ($49 AUS) as well as one of their nude/pink-toned lipsticks in Japanese Maple ($35) and I didn’t buy this just because I’m a sucker for all things oriental/asian themed…honestly >.>.

I also then visited a friend of mines clothing/cosmetic store (called East Avenue) at my other second favourite place…Chinatown and got one my (new) favourite eye/lip make-up remover pads from Skin79 (well known for their BB Creams which I’m a fan of). The reason why I love this product (aside from the fact that it effectively removes eye/lip make up….in one swipe btw ^^) it leave NO greasy/oily residue, and it has an incredibly low (and quite pleasant) fragrance that you can just smell, but it will most definitely not overpower you, so I would recommend this for all skin types, even if you have sensitive skin.

review pics 001

Next Up, is the Bioderma toner/make-up remover/all-in-one/ for sensitive skin. I heard many a great reviews about this product from quite a few beauty guru’s on youtube, so I thought I’d go get it and try it out. I sampled a bit of it at the store I bought it at, and it seemed pretty good, but I will be doing a review on this once I use it more often. Secondly is actually a re-stock item, which is my favourite Gingko Facial Cleanser. It keeps my skin in check, and feeling nice and squeaky clean. Great cleanser.

And lastly is actually a mini jewllery and hair accessory haul. The two earrings I got are super sparkly (yes, I’m a sucker for all things bling >.>) and a cute and quirky moustache hair tie. Both items were bought in Chinatown at a store called East Avenue (which is owned by a friend of mine ^^). So for those living in Sydney, and you’re after unique, one-off handmade earrings, this is the place for you ^^.

review pics 002

Hopefully you all enjoyed this post, I will be doing reviews in the future on all the new items I bought in the near future, so do keep an eye out for that. I also have a twitter (@meiakane) and as well as an instagram account (meiakane_h), so if you don’t mind random pointless pictures, comprising mostly of food and all things cute…feel free to have a look ^^.

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!! ^^

Beauty Haul: Funsized

Greetings everyone ^^

Just wanted to do a quick post on some beauty products I thought I would get today after walking past a certain Priceline store in the city….honestly everytime I walk past there, it always manages to draw me in and my brain suddenly decides to inform me that I must go in to stock up on “essentials”….

Fortunately I managed to leave with just a few items that I’ve been meaning to try out for a while…despite the fact that most of their stuff was all 20-30% off…yeah you would be sucked in too.

So as you can see in the photo below, I picked up the new loreal nude magique bb cream, Nivea eye makeup remover, tresseme hairspray (travel size), dove gentle exfoliating facial cleanser, and the vo5 [rework] fibre putty (travel size)

review pics

The hair items I bought in a travel size because a) I’ve never used both these products and b) as I go to the gym quite often, I like to keep all my beauty items as compact and light as possible.

Of course I will do a review on these items in the future once I’ve really tested them out….I also did have another haul involving junk snack, however I pretty much ate it all while listening to a south sydney rabbitohs v penrith panthers football game on the radio (if you live in australia, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about, and yes, I go for south sydney ^^).

Hope you all have a great week (or weekend) everyone ^^
